Black Currant & Thyme - This gin was inspired by Julian’s love of cooking and watching cooking shows, gleaning inspiration from Top Chef, Chef’s Table, Beat Bobby Flay, and the vibrant flavor pairings of Chef Marcus Samuelsson. The bolder or our two gins, Gin Recipe 02 combines the earthy fruitiness of black currants with fresh thyme to create a complex and savory gin with a peppery finish. Ideal in a gin and tonic or negroni, Gin Recipe 02 can also be highlighted in cocktails that creatively incorporate citrus, herbs, or spice. There are vivid notes of citrus on the nose, dried fruit, and herbs on the palate, with a nice lingering finish of peppercorn.

Julian Peebles and Tory Brown

Julian and Tory, coworkers turned lifelong friends, started their journey together in the tech industry, where both founders shared common ground with each other as men of color. After achieving success in their tech careers, they felt a strong desire to build a legacy, something of their own fruition and creative vision that could be passed on to future generations and other black-owned businesses. Their overall vision: to make a positive impact on the spirits industry by creating a company that takes pride in its representation and diversity. By mentoring and motivating other black-owned companies, Tory and Julian believe they can build a more diverse and inclusive spirits industry.

The first barrels of Common Ground Spirits bourbon were filled in May 2020. We will let our bourbon age for a minimum of 4 years and have our first release scheduled for mid 2024.
